Canada Day Weekend

Next weekend Canada will be celebrating its 144th birthday!

This Canada Day weekend, Hamilton will be hosting a variety of festivals and firework shows. From June 30th– July 3rd, the “It’s Your Festival” will be running at Gage Park. The Festival involves performances from different entertainment groups, as well as its renowned ‘100 Arts and Crafts’ booths. There will be a ‘Foods of the World’ section that will allow participants to sample different foods, as well as karaoke, flag football and pony rides. Admission is free for this event and begins at 12 o’clock noon!

Canada Day fireworks will also be happening on July 1st (with a rain date for July 2nd) at the north-west point of Bayfront Park. There will be performers and entertainers at Bayfront and Pier 4 Park beginning at 7:00 pm with the fire work show starting around 10:00 pm.  The HSR will be providing free shuttle buses that can be taken on the east side of John Street (north of King Street) right to the park! The Canada Day Fireworks is presented by the City of Hamilton and the event will be accepting non-perishable food donations.

The Canada Military Tattoo will be at Dundurn National Historic Site celebrating Canada’s heritage on July 1st. A military tattoo was originally known as a military drum performance. It has since changed a bit and often includes general army displays.
