Stretch your culinary boundaries!

Living in a large, multicultural city means that there are plenty of culinary adventures to be had. Whether you prefer traditional North American fare or your tastes lie somewhere east of the Atlantic, Hamilton has a restaurant to meet your needs. Here are a few of our personal favourites!

Rolly Rockets

Ever wanted to try a deep friend candy bar? This is the place for you. Offering traditional Southern fare, like pulled pork, hushpuppies and pork knuckles, Rolly Rockets is located on the corner of King and Locke; just a short bus ride away. Best of all, they deliver for cheap!

Chucks Burger Bar

Chuck’s offers fresh, handmade burgers that are all made in-house, as well as a selection of 9 different types of poutine. Types of burgers range from the typical beef and chicken to venison, veggie and even lamb. Once you’ve chosen your patty you still have to choose your toppings, and with a menu of more than 60 options that’s easier said than done! Finish it all off with a side of braised lamb poutine and you’ve got one heck of a twist on a perennial favourite.

August 8

Sushi has been all the rage lately, and August 8 offers a whole lot of it. With a menu featuring both dim sum and sushi, there’s sure to be something to please both timid first-timers and sushi aficionados. It’s all you can eat, so it’s a little pricey for a typical student budget, but we think that it’s well worth shelling out.

A feature of downtown Hamilton for more than 30 years, Mex-I-Can offers authentic Mexican cuisine at moderate prices. Many ingredients are imported from Mexico; the restaurant also operates a small shop that sells the imported goods. Don’t be put off by the modest facade; Mex-I-Can offers some of the best Mexican fare in Hamilton.
