Hamilton Music Awards
The Hamilton Music Awards festival runs November 17th through to the 20th, and involves a series of performances, awards, and discussions. If you’re at all interested in music – listening to it, playing it, pursuing it as a career – you should check out some of the goings-on!
Opening Reception and Registration (Thursday November 17, 2011):
The opening reception kicks off the HMA weekend bringing HMA participants including artists, panellists, sponsors, event organizers, dignitaries, event suppliers, industry and media. The opening reception is a highlight of the weekend and a first point of contact for locals and those from out of town.
Festival (Friday November 18, 2011 – Saturday November 19, 2011):
The 2011 Festival will take place over three nights and will feature over 80 musical acts in clubs and theatres throughout downtown Hamilton. The festival attracts music fans and people from all walks of the music industry. Main stage performances will take place at the McIntyre Theatre (Mohawk College). There is free admission to several venues.
The festival is open to local, national and international performers. Past performers include Brian Melo, The Arkells, Lee Harvey Osmond, Steve Strongman, John Ellison, Teenage Head Daniel Lanois, Finger Eleven, Sarah Harmer, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, Ian Thomas, Lee Harvey Osmond, Garnet Rogers, jacksoul and hundreds of others.
