Looks Like A Nice Day For A Promenade

July 11th 2012 marked the Grand Opening of the
Gore Park Summer Promenade.

The Promenade will run every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from July 11th to September 15th 2012, from 11:00am to 5:30pm.

Yesterday afternoon the area attracted crowds with the pull of free musical acts, food trucks such as Gorilla Cheese, the Southern Smoke Truck and the Sweetness Bakery, as well as several local vendors selling jewellery and artwork. There was even a health analysis booth! The promenade also plans on having themed weeks, such as a Sports Week and a Kids Week.

The Promenade is Pilot program launched by the Downtown Hamilton Business Improvement Area (BIA) and the City of Hamilton. This program is a constituent of the Gore Park Master Plan, which is meant to create a pedestrian friendly environment within the city. According to the the City’s mission statement, open spaces such as Gore Park can be used to improve the delivery of services to the citizens of Hamilton. Click here to read the full statement.

If the events held in Gore Park are successful, the pedestrian area will become a permanent addition. The promenade therefore is not only a fantastic excuse to indulge in the glory that is the Gorilla Sarducci, but a great way to support the development of your community!
