Roll Call: Oh, the Places You’ll Go!!!
As a way to cap this week off, I thought it would be nice to give a shout out to the places I have ”been” recently. As the intellect Dr. Zeus teaches us in his beautiful poetry, there is so much in this world to see. My eyes were opened wide by the local places I entered this past week, that seemed foreign, and the far away places that were so open to help. The one universal I observed was this – unconditional love and help is spread across all communities.
Check out these cool places:
The Mustard Seed – he Mustard Seed helps meet the basic needs of shelter, food, clothing and acceptance for men and women experiencing poverty, and works with them to find sustainable housing and employment.
Green Venture – Green venture is helping to promote and carry out environmentally friendly and sustainable projects in Hamilton and surrounding regions. Whether Air Quality, EcoHouse, Energy, Lawn and Garden, Waste or Wise Water Use, there is a ton to learn from the Green Venture projects, centre and staff! .
Freeway Coffee House – As a “third party place”, somewhere that is about the simplicity of life, “day-to-day” world, all communities — and therefore all members of communities — have a space to experience the day outside home or work – to relax. An innovative, non-profit, fair trade coffee house, serving delicious fair trade coffee, tea, hot chocolate and cafe mocha, and baked goods! Art and music venue, and community commons that is committed to re-investing in the local and global community is also included.
Eva Rothwell Centre – Unabashed champions and cheerleaders for some of Hamilton’s best kids. Home for innovative programs and services that are helping to make North Hamilton neighbourhood an even better place to raise a child. In the business of inspiring bigger dreams and realizing unlimited potential. Camps, workshops, sports, classes, free resources, subsidized resources. Amazing people with big hearts.
