The Work of Art Workshop Series

Have you been considering a career in the arts? Cobalt Connects, a Hamilton arts service organization, has a workshop series coming up that is perfect for emerging artists. For passionate artists, building a career in the field of art is a dream come true – but the business side of things can be pretty tricky. But, never fear; The Work of Art series is here to help this month. All Work of Art workshop sessions are intended for visual, media, and craft-based artists, with the goal of teaching how business sense can help art careers flourish.

The Money Matters Workshop is happening on March 9th from 11:00 am-3:00 pm. This workshop covers financial management and tax advice to help artists build strong bottom lines. Topics include record keeping and inventory tracking, budgeting and cash flow systems, how to apply for HST and GST numbers, art donation particulars, determining eligible business expenses, and the basics of taxation. The price for McMaster and Mohawk students is only $10.00 with a valid student ID – and a light lunch is included!

Similarly, the Art of Marketing Workshop will be on March 23rd from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Here, a dual approach to marketing art is taken which considers online strategies and offline relationship-building to engage audiences and encourage sales. The cost for this workshop is also $10.

Both workshops take place at the AGH Design Annex on 118 James Street North. Register at the websites linked above!
