Volunteer at Take Back the Night!

Poster for Take Back the Night - Date: September 18

What Men Can Do Poster - event for men is at 6:30 pm on September 18

We’re looking ahead to September, as a noteworthy event approaches (and no, I’m not referring to the first day of school…please). Thursday September 18 is Take Back the Night! Mark the date on your calendars.

Take Back the Night is an annual event organized by SACHA — Sexual Assault Centre (Hamilton & Area). It is a powerful opportunity for all woman-identified individuals to actively build connections, assertively reclaim our right to safety, and courageously stand up against violence.

SACHA is looking for women who are interested in volunteering on the night of Take Back the Night – Thursday, September 18th.

Volunteer jobs include:

  • Set up
  • Photographing the event
  • Helping at the sign making table
  • Helping at the snack table
  • Setting up the food table
  • Food serving
  • Tear down

If you would like to volunteer at Take Back the Night, email Erin: erin@sacha.ca.

While us women rally away, male-identified people (adult men, young men, and trans men) are invited to a workshop called What Men Can Do: Taking Action to End Gender Based Violence – lead by Jeff Perera from White Ribbon Campaign. Men are encouraged to attend in order to explore how to be allies for survivors and work towards a future without gender-based violence. Interested men should head over to the YWCA on 75 MacNab Street South at 6:30 pm on September 18th.

Those that would like to attend Take Back the Night are asked to gather at City Hall at 6:00 pm, and the Rally will begin at 7:00, followed by a march at 7:30. Check out the event page on Facebook here.
