A Midsummer’s Dream!
Do you love bright colours, and great food? Have you been waiting for an exciting cultural experience here in Hamilton? If your answer is yes to either of those questions, get excited because on August 15th in Gage Park, it is A Midsummer’s Dream! This summer festival is one of the liveliest festivals in Hamilton and is inspired by the Hindu festival of Holi; a festival that celebrates the arrival of spring and the triumph of good over evil.
Partnering with the local Hindu Samaj temple and the Hare Krishna temple in Spanish Fork, Utah in order to respect the ancient Hindu tradition, there will be coloured powders available for everyone to throw to signify breaking down barriers between different cultures. The festival strives to break down all forms of barriers that we have with one another and to push forward as a community towards a bright new future that encompasses balance and inclusion.
At the festival, you can purchase 6 bags of coloured powder for $13 or, 1 bag for $3. Make sure to dress in clothes you wouldn’t mind and don’t forget to bring a towel! There will also be tons of food vendors from all over, a yoga fest as well as a temple of creativity to create some neat arts and crafts! To add to the community aspect of this festival, don’t forget to bring food items to be donated to the Living Rock Ministries to help youth in need.
Mark the date down on your calendar, it’ll be an experience you won’t forget!
