A New Contributor is Here to Pop The Bubble

Hi fellow McMaster Mauraders/Hamiltonians,

It’s been a while since we’ve popped the bubble (Get it? Cause that’s it’s the name of the blog. I like bad puns. Stay tuned for more.), so I thought I’d introduce myself as Pop The Bubble’s newest contributor! My name is Noël and I will be discussing all things Hamilton during the 2016-2017 school year. Whether you’re new to Mac or about to graduate, there’s so much to explore in Hamilton; whether that is our natural beauties, old favourites, up and coming businesses and organizations, or the coolest events!

mulberrys

My favourite Cafe in town, Mulberry’s. Located in downtown Hamilton on James St. N, home of ‘Art Crawl’. They have the best hot chocolate I’ve ever tasted, with a cozy and relaxing atmosphere. (Source: Mulberry Coffee House)

Being on campus all the time, it’s hard to hear about what sorts of events are going and places to check out in the greater Hamilton Community.  With so much to go see and do, it’s impossible to choose. Fear not, fellow Mac students, for the Pop the Bubble contributors are here to help! Whether you’re interested in getting involved in the Hamilton community, discovering new places to hang out or experiencing new things, we’ve got you covered.

escarpment

When Hamiltonians talk about ‘The Mountain’, we mean it quite literally. Taken on the ‘Mountain Brow’, from here you can see the top of The East End. In fact, in this photo you can see my mom’s childhood home. The escarpment is part of what makes Hamilton, Hamilton

Born and raised in Hamilton, aka the Steel City/ aka The Hammer, I’m very passionate about the diverse community in which I grew up in; and hope that you will too during your time as a McMaster student! I’m currently in my first year of Social Sciences, and am so excited to share what I love about my hometown, and your home away from home.

Art is the New Steel”.  Graffiti by unknown local artists located downtown near the GO Station.

Growing up here, I’m particularly interested in the local issues that impact our city and its citizens. I’ll be discussing community engagement initiatives, local politics & news, and all things MacServe! I hope to make those old and new to Hamilton to feel at home in the city they work, learn and play in.

I can’t wait to discuss all things #hamont with you all!

-Noël
